Home

As I've recently moved out of my parents' home, I've been bombarded with the woes of adulthood. I started at a new University during the same week that I got a new job. There is always something to clean around the house and my mom isn't around to always clean up after me (Thanks, mom!).
This year has been one for appreciating the little things, and my new home has so many of them to appreciate! While I do sometimes get caught up in the hectic every day life, it is a dream when I finally am able to sit down and enjoy its subtleties.

The sunrises here are straight out of a fairy-tale. For the first week or so in my new home my body would wake me up at 7 a.m. every morning so I'd be able to catch the first morning rays.

The previous owners of the house left behind their precious black beauty of a cat, which means that I finally have my first cat companion. Her name's Sasha and she likes to cuddle with me on our back porch or in our screened-in porch while I make art (she also likes long walks on the beach and getting caught in the rain).

Sasha became a momma which means that we are now a happy family of five (including my sister and nephew who I happily live with, and excluding four of the cats who I'm looking to find happy future homes for). The light gray kitten on the left and the rest of my foster babies have been a part of the family for a month!

My room has a plethora of windows. While I'm laying in bed I feel as though I'm part of the outside world, or as if I'm camping- I hardly feel the need to use technology while I'm in there and it's beyond fabulous.

My best friends and I discovered a dock that is home to the most wonderful sunsets. It's close enough so that I can walk there but far enough that I get some exercise. One night I went to the lake to sit, watch the sunset, and stew in my creative juices, but there was a town party of some sort going on. There was a live band, who happened to sing Frank Sinatra in a foreign language, and boats and food trucks everywhere!
